Recently, the group standard "Environmental Reliability Test Methods for Outdoor LCD Displays" has completed the public consultation and passed the expert technical review, and was officially released on the National Group Standard Information Platform. The standard number is T/SLDA 020-2025, with the release date of July 25, 2025, and it will be formally implemented from July 30, 2025.
This standard was proposed by TCL CSOT and SDSA, and is under the jurisdiction of SLDA and BDTA. It was jointly drafted by outstanding enterprises in the industrial chain, including TCL CSOT, Shenzhen Uniview Commercial, Jiangmen Zhongchuang Star Display, Guangdong Kowintest, Shenzhen JUFEI Optoelectronics Co., LTD, and SDSA. It is the first domestic authoritative technical specification for verifying the environmental adaptability of LCD displays in outdoor and semi-outdoor scenarios.
With the surge in demand for digital city construction and outdoor advertising, LCD displays in scenarios such as bus stop signs and commercial windows are facing severe environmental challenges such as extreme temperature and humidity, strong light exposure, and rain erosion. Previously, the industry lacked unified environmental reliability testing methods, resulting in uneven product quality, high R&D costs for enterprises, and high market risks.
The release of this standard fills this gap:
- Unifying technical benchmarks: It systematically standardizes the test procedures for outdoor display products under complex natural conditions for the first time, covering all-dimensional test scenarios such as temperature, humidity, and light, providing a scientific basis for design, production, and acceptance.
- Driving industrial upgrading: Through scientific test methods, it promotes enterprises to optimize material selection, structural design, and protection technologies, accelerates product iteration and innovation, and enhances the international competitiveness of China's display industry.
- Assisting market standardization: It provides enterprises with authoritative testing basis, supports products to pass bidding, export certification, and customer acceptance, and reduces compliance costs.
In addition, Shenzhen's LED industry, as a leading 100-billion-level industrial cluster in the country, has been included in the key support areas of the city's standard system construction. The municipal and district governments provide linked support through policies such as Shenzhen standard certification and enterprise standard "leader" (specific subsidies are subject to the latest local policies). In the future, SLDA will continue to deepen the standard construction in the LED field, promote high-quality development with high standards, and provide high-quality services for the industry. It sincerely invites industrial chain enterprises, colleges, and other units to actively participate in standard construction, jointly drive technological innovation and quality upgrading through standardization, and build a globally influential LED industry benchmark system.
